They often have their own anxieties, fears, and emotions that go unaddressed. These feelings can be alleviated with advanced preparation and skills that build confidence in their abilities.

As a birth partner, you are encouraged to talk with others who themselves have been in the same position you are preparing for. Speak with women who have had babies, and of course, talk with the expectant mother. Ask her what she needs or wants from you.

In addition, information has been provided just for you on the following pages. Mothering & More is confident you will find it to be practical and useful.

Partners in birth can be anyone from the baby’s father, a family member, or a close friend. They are a very important part of the entire birth experience. Partners are counted on for emotional and physical support for which they might feel inadequate and unprepared to offer.
