Postpartum is now being referred to as the Recovery Stage or Fourth Stage of Labor, and for good reason. Many women find themselves totally unprepared for the changes, situations, and emotions that are a part of their becoming a mother.

It is Mothering & More's hope that every woman has what she needs in the way of information and support after giving birth.  Unfortunately, this is not the reality of our society.  Too often women find themselves totally on their own, sometimes within a day or two after their baby is born.

It is so important to take some time to learn from the experience of family, friends, support groups and organizations about the realities of having a baby.  Never be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

There seems to be an enormous and unbalanced focus on pregnancy and birthing with much less on
